EDITING SERVICES
Sparkle and shine! My goal as an editor is to bring out the best in a piece of writing while honoring the author’s unique voice, meaning, and intent. After a thorough analysis and determination of what’s effective and what’s needed, I provide extensive feedback and suggestions that will help transform a draft from “good” to its ultimate, best version. To that end, I focus on working closely and collaboratively with clients in order to manifest the original vision for the project.
I have served as an editor at Literary Mama and also worked on the staffs of F(r)iction and Carve magazines. I hold a certification in copyediting from UC San Diego Extension and am an active member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and ACES: The Society for Editing. I’m available to assist on multiple levels—with developmental editing, line editing, copyediting, sensitivity reads, and professional beta reading—and I’ve worked with writers on a variety of projects, including short fiction, nonfiction, and creative nonfiction. I additionally provide consultation on resumes, proposals, and artist’s statements.
As a writer myself, I understand the protectiveness you may feel about your work. Putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) is a brave and sacred act. My approach as an editor entails keeping that top of mind. To get in touch, please head to my contact page and submit a form. I look forward to discussing your creative project!
